You didn’t move to the mountains because you hate winter. Both Banff and Canmore come alive during the colder months with events.
One of the youngest neighbourhoods in Canmore’s South Side is still expanding. Three Sisters Mountain Village (TSMV) has some of the town’s latest homes, with new builds going up daily. The area has many smaller sections within it, and they include everything from high-end houses in a gated community to condos, townhomes and family residences.
The area is interconnected with an impressive trail network, which also ties into the trails leading to downtown and beyond. Popular mountain biking trails in the area include the Highline Trail and Guy Lafleur Trail. There are plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and enjoying the mountains in this growing mountain community.
TSMV also has many amenities within walking distance from its homes. From the central medical clinic and pharmacy to the small shops and the award-winning Market Bistro, TSMV has your basic needs covered. For everything else, it’s a short drive or bike to downtown. The neighbourhood also has a disk golf course, an off-leash dog park and access to schools, making it a great location for individuals and families of all types.
This neighbourhood is home to Stewart Creek Golf and Country Club. The golf club features an 18-hole mountain course designed by Gary Browning that combines forests, lakes, mountain streams, rocky outcrops and layered fairways, all surrounded by iconic mountain vistas. The club offers various memberships, including family packages with instruction and workshops so everyone can get out and enjoy the mountains.
Three Sisters Mountain Village also offers a closeness to nature that many mountain enthusiasts crave. The interconnected trail networks allow people to get lost in the wilderness, just steps from their front door. TSMV also features a wildlife corridor, which connects natural habitats and allows wild animals to pass through the community with minimal human interaction. To date, TSMV has dedicated 1,500 acres of land to protected wildlife corridors, and they continue to discuss their plans for new development with conservation groups and the Town of Canmore.
Even with its amenities and closeness to the wilderness, TSMV can be a relatively affordable place to live in Canmore. Condos and townhomes often have reasonable price points and there are communities geared towards first time home buyers. Because the homes are newer, most single-family houses have legal suites, giving homeowners an opportunity to have some extra income. As such, the area appeals to a lot of full-time Canmore residents as well as Calgarians who are looking for an affordable second home to escape the city and breathe in the mountain air.
The neighbourhood is not just for those looking for a deal. There are luxury communities within TSMV that feature high-end homes built by international builders with no details overlooked. Building lots are still selling, for those looking to buy space to build their dream home. Residents enjoy seclusion and a private slice of luxury overlooking the cozy mountain town.
TSMV is continuing to grow, and they have submitted plans to the Town of Canmore to lay out their proposals for the next 20 to 30 years of development. There is still a lot of discussion around these plans to ensure wildlife has room to roam and that the expansion includes affordable homes for residents of Canmore looking to settle down.
